“Everyone thinks they have the best dog. And none of them are wrong.”

Who we are.

We are a company that loves dogs and believes they deserve the best life we can possibly give.  Through pack hikes, training, and boarding the ultimate goal is to support you and your dog’s needs.

PACK HIKES

We believe our pack hikes are one of the most fulfilling experiences we can give our dogs.

Pack hikes offer exercise, socialization, off leash training, and fulfills their instinctual need to travel in a pack. Dogs are pack animals and naturally learn by example from other dogs. I play the role of leader providing protection and direction for the dogs and the seasoned pack members reinforce our teaching. My role as leader is to earn respect, set boundaries, and provide protection so the dogs feel safe to explore the trail. I help dogs focus on practicing calm energy and cooperating with one another. Pack walks are beneficial for any dog no matter their size, age or temperament.

It’s a natural thing for a human to feel sympathy for another animal, but dogs don’t need our sympathy. They need our leadership.

TRAINING

I believe dog training is based on clear communication and the relationship between dog and owner. I focus on foundation training with positive reinforcement, structure, and confidence building. I am a balanced trainer that believes in using rewards and corrections, “yes” and “no” in training. I customize my training to best-fit dogs as individuals and I work with you to make sure your dog’s training is successful and long-lasting. My balanced approach to dog training gives you and your dogs the ability to achieve your goals.

Natalie

When I was a child my favorite activity was dressing up in my Dalmatian Halloween costume and following our childhood dog around the yard on all fours. Any time an adult asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I always told them something with animals.

After graduating from Azusa Pacific University in 2013 I took a job as a Sales Manager and quickly realized that I’d never be passionate about it. I had forgotten my passion and childhood dream. After leaving that job, my sister and I started hiking our dogs nearly everyday. Watching Loki freely frolic among the trees and along mountain trails gave me so much joy, I knew this experience had to be shared. And so marks the beginning of Trailhead Hounds. Loki inspired me to transform my love for dogs into a career. I am so grateful for the opportunity to provide the same joy I gave him to other dogs. I truly believe the pack hikes can make a positive impact on the whole family.

After three years of leading pack hikes my knowledge of dog behavior and training grew. Although I have studied under some very skillful and brilliant dog Trainers, I believe some of the best teachers are dogs themselves. I immersed myself into the dog training world, attending many training workshops and seminars, shadowing fellow canine professionals, and now have years of practice with hands on learning. I practice what I preach that training is a lifestyle and am always continuing to expand my knowledge of dog training.

Loki

Loki was found at 2 months old, abandoned and roaming the rural roads of Northern California. The first time I met him I knew he was family. Once he walked into our lives I knew I wanted to give him everything a dog could want. I started training him immediately so he could enjoy as many experiences as possible. With lots of training and work Loki grew into a balanced, patient, and compliant dog. He became my business partner and co trainer for all my Trailhead Hound clients. His influence and even temperament and amazing obedience skills became the best example for all the pack hike dogs and training clients.

Natalie picks me up and takes me to play with my frens. She even showed me a magical pond that turned my fuzzy monster paws into swimming scoooopers! I miss Natalie on the weekends but it gives me a chance to rest up for all of our adventures. I’m a sensitive little guy, and Natalie always makes me feel comfortable!
